Turin, 4 July (LaPresse) – Kimi Antonelli has won the sprint race at the Formula 1 British Grand Prix and has extended his lead at the top of the world championship standings to +43 over his team-mate George Russell, who finished fourth. The young Mercedes driver overtook Lewis Hamilton halfway through the race – Hamilton had started from pole position and managed to stay in the lead after the start – before pulling away to victory ahead of the Ferrari driver and Lando Norris’s McLaren, which completed the podium in third place. Fifth place went to the other Ferrari driven by Charles Leclerc, ahead of Max Verstappen’s Red Bull and Oscar Piastri’s other McLaren in a race full of overtaking, particularly in the early laps. The drivers will return to the track at Silverstone for qualifying, scheduled for 5.00 pm, ahead of tomorrow’s race.
