Tourism: Italy tops the European rankings again this summer

Milan, 5 July (LaPresse) – “Italy has once again been confirmed as Europe’s tourism leader for the summer of 2026, recording an OTA occupancy rate (51.2%) higher than competitors such as Spain (42.8%) and France (32.9%), and an average rate (153 euros) lower than that of Spain (170) and Greece (195).” This is according to data analysed by the Statistics Office of the Ministry of Tourism. “In particular, the highest occupancy rates are observed in Veneto (57.5 per cent), Emilia-Romagna (56.7 per cent), the Autonomous Province of Trento (55.7 per cent) and the Autonomous Province of Bolzano (54.9 per cent). Next, Friuli-Venezia Giulia (53.7 per cent), Sicily (53.3 per cent) and Tuscany (52.5 per cent) all show figures above the national average. Furthermore, the national occupancy rate for June and July recorded an increase compared with the same period in 2025, of +13.4 per cent and +10 per cent respectively.”
