Rome, 6 July (LaPresse) – Carlo Ancelotti has come under fire from the Brazilian press and fans following the Seleção’s elimination in the round of 16 of the World Cup currently being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Former manager Vanderlei Luxemburgo was particularly scathing, venting his frustration at the Italian coach on Instagram: “Ancelotti has made so many mistakes in this World Cup,” he thundered, criticising his tactical handling of the match against Norway. Criticism has also been pouring in on social media, whilst the Brasil 247 website runs the headline: “Ancelotti out”. The Emilian manager, however, has no intention of giving up. He described the elimination as “unfair” and reaffirmed his coaching philosophy: “When a moment like this comes along, you have to think of a defeat as the start of a new adventure. We must continue to improve and come up with new ideas. It’s not the end. This defeat is the start of a new cycle,” he said.
