Ankara (Turkey), 7 July (LaPresse/AP) – Turkey has stepped up security measures and banned protests in Ankara during the ongoing NATO summit, but a small group of demonstrators gathered in the capital today. They were quickly surrounded by police, and a lawyers’ association reported that 25 people had been detained. According to reports, they included 22 students affiliated with the left-wing Turkish Workers’ Party and three lawyers.
