Milan, 7 July (LaPresse) – A fatal road accident occurred shortly before 1.00 pm in Milan at the junction of Via Gattamelata and Via Colleoni, where a 67-year-old woman on a bicycle was struck by a heavy goods vehicle and died shortly after being taken, in a critical condition, to Niguarda Hospital. The local police are at the scene and are trying to establish the circumstances of the accident. According to an initial account, the lorry, coming from Via Colleoni, was turning right at the traffic-light-controlled junction with Via Gattamelata when it struck the cyclist. Initial investigations have not yet established whether the woman was crossing at the pedestrian crossing or was cycling along Via Colleoni alongside the lorry. According to the local police’s initial findings, the lorry, driven by a 33-year-old man, was fitted with a blind-spot sensor.
