Torino, 8 July (LaPresse) – Duvan Zapata has extended his contract with Torino until 30 June 2028. The Granata club announced this in a statement on its official website. Zapata was born in Santiago de Cali, Colombia, on 1 April 1991. The striker came through the youth ranks at América de Cali, the club for which he made his professional debut on 18 May 2008 and for which he made 33 appearances and scored 7 goals. In 2011, he moved to Argentina to join Estudiantes, where he made 46 appearances and scored 22 goals over three seasons. He arrived in Italy in August 2013 to join Napoli. With the Neapolitan side, he spent two seasons settling into the Italian league and undertook two loan spells, first at Udinese and then at Sampdoria, the club that subsequently bought him outright. From the Ligurian side, he moved to Atalanta, where he played for five seasons before joining Torino in September 2023. As the team’s captain and a valuable figure both on and off the pitch, Duvan has made 75 appearances for Torino, scoring 19 goals and providing 5 assists. The striker has also made 34 appearances and scored 4 goals for the Colombian national team.
