Rome, 8 July (LaPresse) – A team of inspectors from the Ministry of Health is carrying out an inspection at Rome’s Ospedale Israelitico to shed light on the theft of 80 vials of Fentanyl that took place in June. LaPresse has learnt this from reliable sources. The inspection is taking place in the presence of the director-general, the hospital’s medical director, the hospital’s chief medical officer and the head of the hospital pharmacy department, as well as staff from the ward affected by the thefts and the manager of the private security firm responsible for monitoring the ward. The hospital will be required to provide the inspectors with a report on the incident, which must set out ‘in detail’ the entire organisational system for the storage and traceability of medicines. It must also outline the procedures for managing the relevant records of the receipt and dispatch of controlled substances, including Fentanyl.
