Rome, 9 July (LaPresse) – Mario Orfeo has resigned as editor-in-chief of *La Repubblica* and is set to become the new editorial director of Qn Media. From 9 September, Mario Orfeo will be the “editorial director of Qn Media (formerly Editoriale Nazionale), the group that owns the daily newspapers *Il Resto del Carlino*, *La Nazione*, *Il Giorno* and *Qn*”, according to a statement from the group. “In his new role, Mario Orfeo will work alongside the publisher, Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, and the chief executive officer to drive the group’s growth, providing guidance and coordination on editorial strategy and new development projects,” the statement continues – Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio’s plan aims to redefine the positioning of the entire publishing group, starting with the new Qn, due to launch this coming autumn, which will evolve into a high-end, authoritative opinion newspaper capable of appealing to a young audience through contemporary language. Agnese Pini has been confirmed as Editor-in-Chief of the group’s publications and will contribute to the ambitious relaunch of the new Qn: a completely revamped publication, with a design inspired by leading European daily newspapers, a layout focused on readability and the enhancement of content, and a digital platform redesigned from scratch alongside the print edition. At the same time, the publisher’s vision is reflected in a new organisational structure for the group, which aims to make each local newspaper more distinctive and recognisable: *Il Resto del Carlino*, *La Nazione* and *Il Giorno* will each retain their central role in regional news coverage, strengthening their roots in their respective regions. On this basis, the newspapers will form part of a digital publishing ecosystem designed to attract new audiences and generate new revenue streams. This is a model of multimedia integration in which identity, technology, the product and advertising sales will be redefined within a unified framework. Mario Orfeo, aged 60, has been Editor-in-Chief of *La Repubblica* since 2024; he is the only journalist in the history of RAI to have headed the three main news programmes on state television (TG1, TG2, TG3), for which he served as Chief Executive Officer during the 2017–2018 season. Prior to that, he was Editor-in-Chief of *Il Mattino* and *Il Messaggero*.
