Frankfurt (Germany), 9 July (LaPresse) – “Intelligence activities in our country are completely unacceptable. We are monitoring Russia’s actions very closely and are taking steps to counter them.” This was the statement from the German Foreign Ministry, as reported by LaPresse, commenting on recent cases of alleged espionage activities linked to Russia in Italy, Germany and other European countries. “Russia’s aggressive actions,” it was emphasised, “have consequences: we have already made this clear in the past, including in relation to Russian espionage activities. Most recently, at the end of January 2026, a diplomat accredited to the Russian embassy in Berlin was expelled.”
