Rome, 12 July (LaPresse) – The second semi-final of the World Cup will see Harry Kane’s England take on Leo Messi’s Argentina. In the quarter-finals, both teams beat their respective opponents in extra time: in Miami, England fell behind against Norway (goal by Schjelderup in the 36th minute) but, thanks to Bellingham, first equalised in first-half stoppage time and then scored the decisive goal to make it 2–1 early in the first half of extra time. In the other match played overnight, in Kansas City, Argentina beat Switzerland 3–1. The South Americans’ goals were scored by Mac Allister (10’), Julian Alvarez (112’) and Lautaro Martinez (121’). Di Ndoye scored the Swiss side’s temporary equaliser in the 67th minute. England and Argentina will be back in action on Wednesday, whilst the other semi-final of the tournament between France and Spain will be played the day after tomorrow.
