Bangkok (Thailand), 13 July (LaPresse/AP) – A violent fire ravaged a bar featuring a beer garden and live music in Bangkok overnight, leaving at least 27 people dead and dozens injured. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control only after about half an hour. Videos posted online by emergency services show the fire engulfing the ‘Na Ladprao’ venue in the northern part of the Thai capital. Thick plumes of smoke rose from the main entrance, whilst numerous customers attempted to escape amidst the panic and a thick black cloud. The causes of the fire are still under investigation. The Governor of Bangkok, Chadchart Sittipunt, explained that investigators will examine the materials used for the ceiling and check whether any emergency exits were blocked, a circumstance that may have hindered the evacuation.
