Rome, 14 July (LaPresse) – On 28 September, the First Court of Assizes in Rome will deliver its verdict in the trial for the murder of Giulio Regeni. The date was set at the end of the second hearing, which was devoted to the closing arguments of the defence for the four Egyptian intelligence officers accused of the abduction, torture and murder of the Italian researcher, which took place in Cairo in January 2016. The prosecution has sought life imprisonment for the defendants, as well as three sentences of 17 years and six months’ imprisonment.
