Milan, 18 July (LaPresse) – “Are we hopeful about the application for a pardon? Yes, but we must be aware that a presidential review takes time. The application for a pardon is an interesting prospect, but it too is a medium-term prospect.” This was stated by Stefano Marcolini, Mario Roggero’s lawyer, as he left Bollate Prison. When asked to comment on the remarks made by the 72-year-old jeweller to the President of the Republic yesterday, before he entered the prison, the lawyer replied: “He may have been a little direct in his approach, but all statements must be put into context. Yesterday, here with you, Mario gave a long speech; within that long speech, he may have addressed the Head of State in a slightly direct manner, but he also said many other things that, on a human level, made me smile.”
