Milan, 18 July (LaPresse) – Luciano Darderi has qualified for the final of the “Nordea Open” (ATP 250 – prize money €612,620), on the clay courts of Bastad in Sweden. The Italian, the No. 2 seed and world No. 18, defeated Adolfo Daniel Vallejo (No. 71) in the semi-final after a gruelling three-set battle, winning 6-4, 6-7(11), 6-3 after two hours and 58 minutes of play. This is Darderi’s second consecutive final on the clay at Bastad, where the Villa Gesell native must defend his title from a year ago to retain his place in the Top 20 for at least another week. In the first set, the player born in 2002 needed 13 set points to close it out, whilst in the second he saw three match points go to waste.
