The figure has risen by 89 since Saturday, 25 days after the disaster on 24 June, when two powerful consecutive earthquakes struck the area, affecting La Guaira – a coastal state near the capital, Caracas – particularly severely. The number of injured remains unchanged at 16,740, according to a statement by the Speaker of the Venezuelan Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez.
