Rome, 20 July (LaPresse) – The death toll from the two earthquakes that struck Venezuela last month has risen to 5,208, according to an official update released on Sunday. The figure has risen by 89 since Saturday, 25 days after the disaster on 24 June, when two powerful consecutive earthquakes struck the area, affecting La Guaira – a coastal state near the capital, Caracas – particularly severely. The number of injured remains unchanged at 16,740, according to a statement by the Speaker of the Venezuelan Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez.
