Milan, 20 July (LaPresse) – The death toll from Russia’s attack in Odessa on a civilian ship flying the flag of Guinea-Bissau and owned by a Turkish company has risen to at least 10. This was reported by the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority in a Facebook post. Russian forces attacked the merchant ship as it was leaving the Ukrainian port after loading maize. On board were 17 crew members, Syrian and Indian nationals, as well as a pilot from the ‘Delta-Pilot’ subsidiary of the state-owned company ‘Ampu’. “The search and rescue operation continued throughout the night. The fire on board the vessel was brought under control. Eight crew members were successfully rescued and brought ashore. Unfortunately, 10 people, including the pilot from the state-owned company Ampu, lost their lives,” the post reads.
