Rome, 20 July (LaPresse) – The Bologna Public Prosecutor’s Office has ordered the seizure of the telephone calls in which residents requested emergency assistance, the radio communications between the police headquarters’ operations centre and the patrol cars that attended the scene in Via Svevo, and the communications between the 118 emergency services control centre and the medical teams dispatched to the scene. This is one of the first investigative steps in the inquiry into the death of Fakir Abderrahim, the 42-year-old Moroccan national who died during a police operation. The enquiries are being coordinated by Public Prosecutor Paolo Guido and Deputy Public Prosecutor Domenico Ambrosino, whilst the investigation is being conducted by the Mobile Squad. The investigators’ aim is to reconstruct the sequence of events with precision and to verify the content of the communications between the personnel involved in managing the emergency. When the officers requested the assistance of the 118 emergency service, they reportedly indicated the presence of a man in an obvious state of mental distress.
