The armed forces made the announcement via the state news agency Petra. It was reported that the interception caused no casualties or damage on the ground. Jordan hosts US troops and aircraft and has been repeatedly targeted by Iran following the collapse of the interim agreement with the United States, caused by the dispute over control of the Strait of Hormuz.
