Rome, 21 July (LaPresse) – “What happened in Bologna is unacceptable.” So said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who added on social media: “With regard to the death of Abderrahim Fakir, it is imperative that any liability be investigated with the utmost rigour. The truth must be pursued to the very end, without prejudice and without making exceptions for anyone. But nothing can justify violence against the police. Those who chose to use this incident as a pretext to wreak havoc in the city, attack police officers and sow violence – thereby also putting at risk the safety of citizens who were completely uninvolved in the unrest – were not seeking the truth: they were seeking confrontation.”
