Milan, 22 July (LaPresse) – There are 10 Italian tennis players on the entry lists for the main draw of the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the year, which is due to take place on the hard courts of Flushing Meadows from 30 August to 13 September. Eight Italian players feature in the men’s draw: Jannik Sinner (2024 champion), Flavio Cobolli, Lorenzo Musetti, Luciano Darderi, Matteo Arnaldi, Matteo Berrettini, Lorenzo Sonego and Mattia Bellucci. Two Italian players have been included in the women’s draw: Jasmine Paolini and Elisabetta Cocciaretto. Among the stars taking to the court at the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Centre in Flushing Meadows will be world number ones Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner. The Belarusian is aiming to become the first woman to win three consecutive US Open singles titles since Serena Williams (2012–14): the Italian, a Wimbledon champion, is seeking a second New York title following his success in 2024. They are joined by world number twos Elena Rybakina, the reigning Australian Open champion, and Alexander Zverev, winner of the 2026 French Open. The reigning men’s singles champion is Carlos Alcaraz: the Spaniard, who has been sidelined since late April with a right wrist injury (he is expected to return at the Cincinnati ‘1000’), is aiming to win his third title in New York following his victories in 2022 and last year. The 2026 US Open will take place from Sunday 23 August to Sunday 13 September: the qualifying rounds will be held the week before.
