Rome, July 22 (LaPresse) — A tragedy occurred this morning in Monterotondo, in the province of Rome, at the municipal swimming pool on Via della Fonte. A 5-year-old boy, who was attending a summer camp along with about 15 other children his age, fell ill while in the water. Rescue workers responded immediately and began resuscitation efforts, with support from a helicopter rescue team, but there was nothing that could be done to save the child. The cause of death and the circumstances of the incident are currently under investigation. The Carabinieri arrived on the scene and are conducting the investigation, coordinated by the Tivoli Public Prosecutor’s Office.
