In the letter, the family highlights the various expressions of support received from those who “have sent a thought to our family every day”. “Every gesture, big or small, has reminded us that humanity still exists,” the family emphasised, expressing “our most sincere thanks”. “We will carry in our hearts the affection, support and solidarity you have shown us,” writes the jeweller’s family, who were today denied a postponement of his sentence, concluding: “From today, out of respect for this time for our family, our official pages will observe a period of silence.”
