Milan, 23 July (LaPresse) – “Iran is begging us, both directly and indirectly: ‘Let’s reach an agreement. Let’s talk. Let’s talk’.” This was stated by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio whilst speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the ASEAN ministerial summit in Manila, in the Philippines. This was reported by CNN. Rubio added that every time the United States and Iran agree on a ceasefire deal, “those in charge there either violate it or want to change it” and “so they will continue to pay a price, and every night that price gets higher and higher”. “At the moment, it seems they have not come to their senses, and so the President does not see much point in responding to their overtures at this stage, because, frankly, Iran is clearly not ready to strike a deal – at least not one they are prepared to honour,” Rubio added.
