Turin, 24 July (LaPresse) – Mark Van Bommel is Belgium’s new head coach. The Belgian Football Association has announced this, adding that the former Dutch midfielder has signed a contract running until Euro 2028. The former Bayern Munich and AC Milan player is the second Dutchman to take charge of the Belgian national team after Dick Advocaat (2019–2020). “It is a tremendous honour,” said Van Bommel, who previously managed PSV Eindhoven and Wolfsburg, in his first comments. “I would like to thank the Belgian Football Association for the trust they have placed in me. Belgium has exceptional players and enormous potential. Success is never guaranteed, but hard work, honesty and commitment certainly are. I can’t wait to meet the players, the staff and the fans, and to start this new chapter together.”
