Sources at Palazzo Chigi have confirmed this, emphasising that the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, held talks today with the Minister for the Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti. According to the same sources, the discussion centred on “the general economic situation, with particular attention to fuel price trends”. “The government is examining possible measures to be taken, including the potential activation of the variable excise duty mechanism,” they concluded.
