Milan, 25 July (LaPresse) – Lou Koller, singer and co-founder of the hardcore punk band Sick of it All, has died at the age of 59: the artist had been battling oesophageal cancer for around two years. The band announced the news themselves in an Instagram post. “It is with immense sadness that we announce to our global hardcore family the passing of our brother Lou Koller. The pain we are feeling right now is unbearable,” reads the post, which is accompanied by a photo of Koller. “This year, Sick of it All would have celebrated their 40th anniversary as a band, and Lou’s warmth, dedication and enthusiasm have remained unwavering over the years. We have lost a dear friend and an iconic frontman. Lou had the power to lift everyone’s spirits at our gigs with a smile and a sarcastic remark, and he won people over wherever we played, from every culture and every corner of the world,” the band continued. “At this time of deep sorrow, we must once again thank everyone who contributed to Lou’s medical fund for their tremendous help and support. Thanks to you, Lou felt special and loved during these last two years of his struggle. His battle is over and he can finally rest. We hope that, in some way, he can still see and feel the beautiful, positive mark he has left on the world,” the band conclude.
