Rome, 25 July (LaPresse) – Following the numerous forest fires currently affecting France, particularly the Gironde region, the French Ministry of the Interior has decided to redeploy part of the internal security forces initially mobilised to ensure security for the final stage of the Tour de France, in order to bolster response efforts in the areas affected by the forest fires. Consequently – according to the Tour de France organisers – the route for Stage 21 has been shortened to 89 km, compared with the 133 km originally planned. The peloton is scheduled to set off from Thoiry at 1.20 pm – after the parade, it will leave Thoiry and head directly to the final circuit in Paris. The team presentation will take place at 15:40 and, following the presentation, the riders will travel directly to the final circuit in Paris by coach. The official start will be given from the finish line at 17:50; the riders will complete two additional laps of the Champs-Élysées before heading to the Montmartre circuit for a scheduled finish at 19:45.
