In a brief statement released today, the Spanish club said it “deeply regrets the death of the worker who lost his life yesterday in an accident at work”. Barcelona has expressed its condolences to the victim’s family, friends and colleagues. The Catalan police have confirmed that the worker was a 54-year-old man. In 2023, Barcelona began a major refurbishment of Camp Nou, Europe’s largest football stadium. In November, the club resumed playing matches at the ground, with limited capacity, whilst construction work continues.
