Rome, 26 July (LaPresse) – The family of Abderrahim Fakir, the 42-year-old who died on 19 July during an incident involving police and medical staff in Bologna, has launched a fundraising campaign to cover the legal and technical-scientific costs associated with the investigation. “Our only wish is for the full truth of what happened to be brought to light, with respect, through all the investigations that the judicial authorities deem necessary,” writes Yossra Fakir, the victim’s niece, in an appeal published online. The family explains that donations will be used exclusively to cover the costs of legal representation, forensic and technical-scientific consultancy, expert reports, court documents and defence investigations. “We are not asking anyone to take sides or to pass judgement before the truth has been established. We are simply asking for practical help so that the financial burden does not become an obstacle to our right to pursue this case with adequate legal and technical support,” the message reads. Finally, the family invites those who are unable to contribute financially to share the initiative.
