I’ll speak to everyone as soon as possible, as is only right.” This was stated by FIGC President Giovanni Malagò, speaking to *Il Sole 24 Ore* whilst commenting on the rankings of the 20th edition of the Sportivity Index, compiled by PTS Sport and published by *Il Sole 24 Ore*, regarding the situation surrounding the appointment of the national team’s new head coach, following the withdrawal of Andrea Pirlo’s candidacy. Speaking about his plans for the revival of Italian football, Malagò said: “For us to regain our competitive credibility at the highest level – where nothing can be taken for granted – we need to work with young players who are currently aged between 13 and 16. To achieve this, we need to overhaul the entire system in terms of training and culture, and this also involves the coaches. It’s a matter of sowing the seeds; the ideas are very clear.” “We’re doing this, despite the myriad complexities, because a transformation is needed. We must bear in mind that we used to be a football-centric country, whereas today we are no longer, as there are now so many other sports,” he added.
