He must be released because he is innocent and, a few months ago, a prosecutor from the very same Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office that has now arrested him put it in writing, requesting that the charges be dismissed on the grounds that ‘the conduct reported does not appear to constitute any criminal offence’; he must be released because there is no risk of him absconding; he could not take three steps outside the building’s front door even if he wanted to, as he would be immediately identified; he must be released because there is no risk of evidence being tampered with, as the proceedings are based entirely on documentary evidence that cannot be tampered with and has already been secured, such as bank statements, chat logs and emails; he must be released because, obviously, a repeat offence is unthinkable; he must be released because he is being persecuted for being a dissenting voice on sensitive issues such as Islamism and for being at odds with lobbies that represent powers with enormous vested interests; a few months ago, the public prosecutor’s office had requested that the case be dismissed; however, after the Popolo della Famiglia party exceeded 5 per cent of the vote in the Chamber of Deputies and Adinolfi spoke out on Islamism – views that earned him a surreal conviction – he was arrested; He must be released because, despite this climate of persecution, he has cooperated with the prosecution by answering all questions put to him by the public prosecutor and the investigating judge, providing new evidence useful to the investigation, without hiding behind his right to remain silent. Adinolfi wants to continue to believe in justice, and if the law is truly the same for everyone, Adinolfi must be released.”
