Earthquakes: Japanese Prime Minister says “Several people injured and damage to roads, bridges and buildings”

Tokyo (Japan), 28 July (LaPresse/AP) – Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi told journalists that, following the magnitude 7.1 earthquake that struck the south of the country, several people have been reported injured and damage has been caused to roads, bridges and buildings, as well as power cuts and fires. The details have not yet been clarified. “People’s lives are our top priority,” said Takaichi, urging residents in the worst-affected areas to remain vigilant in the event of possible strong aftershocks. The authorities issued and subsequently lifted a tsunami warning.
