Rome, 29 July (LaPresse) – “The draft bill is specifically intended to identify resources for the football system that do not come from the state budget and that are earmarked for the development of youth academies. In past years, many initiatives that seemed well-conceived have often come to a standstill because the much-talked-about financial backing was lacking. The draft bill contains a number of ideas for securing resources. The first concerns piracy, with a proposal to allocate 10 per cent of the fund derived from piracy revenues to the football system and the youth sector. “That’s all well and good, but given that these are funds taken from and deducted from our system, I don’t understand why someone else should benefit from them rather than them going almost entirely to us.” So said Giovanni Malagò, president of the FIGC, during a hearing before the Senate Culture Committee as part of the examination of provisions relating to the Italian football system.
