Milan, 29 July (LaPresse/AP) – The Irish singer-songwriter Glen Hansard, an Oscar winner, has died in a motorbike accident. His management announced that the accident took place on Wednesday in Dublin. He was 56. Hansard was known for his dual career as an actor and musician. He played a member of a Dublin soul band in ‘The Commitments’ and won an Oscar in 2007 for the song ‘Falling Slowly’ from the film ‘Once’, in which he also starred. He was the frontman of The Frames and part of the duo The Swell Season. He also released solo albums, including ‘Didn’t He Ramble’, which received a Grammy nomination in 2016.
