Milan, July 30 (LaPresse) – “The images coming from Ceuta are shocking and show, once again, that uncontrolled illegal immigration represents a concrete threat to the security of European borders.” Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wrote this on X, referring to what is happening in Spain. “I spoke with Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi. Italy will not stand by and watch. We are convening the relevant bodies, and following these meetings we are ready to take action, including through extraordinary measures to defend borders and citizens’ security, such as the suspension of the Schengen area with Spain,” she added. “On illegal immigration we will not retreat by a single millimeter: defending borders, stopping human traffickers and ensuring effective repatriations will continue to be this government’s policy,” Meloni concluded.
