The US President said in a telephone interview with the Financial Times that he was not “sure” whether Washington would grant Ukraine a licence to produce Patriot missiles, adding that “we’re thinking about it”. “It’s a truly extraordinary weapon and we have to be a bit cautious about who we grant the licence to. We don’t usually grant licences for equipment,” said the tycoon. Trump’s comments came just two days after his meeting at the White House with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, who described the meeting as “positive” and reported that the two leaders had discussed “the production of Patriot interceptor missiles and several other ideas”.
