Naples, 1 Aug. (LaPresse) – Around 20 people have been taken to A&E, two of them in critical condition, with injuries sustained as a result of the 4.7-magnitude earthquake that struck last night, with its epicentre in the Campi Flegrei. The figures emerged during an update meeting of the emergency response coordination centre, chaired by the Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, which was held late in the evening at the Municipal Operations Centre in Pozzuoli, attended by the President of the Campania Region, Roberto Fico, and, via video link, the Head of the Civil Protection Department, Fabio Ciciliano. The Fire Brigade proceeded to evacuate 18 households on Via Sannino and 4 households on Via San Vitagliano, whilst structural inspections of the buildings continue. The reception centres set up on Via Terracina in Naples and in Pozzuoli are now operational. E-Distribuzione has gradually restored power to all utilities. It was reiterated that the Port of Pozzuoli will remain closed and that the Central Tyrrhenian Sea Port Authority will issue an order prohibiting access to the state-owned maritime areas beneath the rocky cliffs. A further meeting has been called for 10.00 am today, Saturday 1 August, at the Prefecture of Naples.
