Rome, 1 Aug. (LaPresse) – Iranian General Ali Abdollahi, commander of Tehran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Joint Military Command, has stated that US actions against Iran increasingly risk triggering a “large-scale” regional conflict. In a statement reported by the Iranian broadcaster IRIB, Abdollahi said that countries in the region should understand that the United States intends to use their wealth, its infrastructure and its resources “as a defensive shield against its own military weakness” and that the Gulf states should reconsider their “cooperation and alignment” with the United States, warning that any country acting as a “defensive shield” for the United States will be “consumed by the flames of war”.
