Milan, 1 August (LaPresse) – The lying-in-state for Don Antonio Mazzi, founder of Exodus, who died in Milan on the afternoon of 31 July, opened at 5 pm. Placed beside the open coffin were the priest’s sandals, his walking stick and a Bible opened to the page on Pentecost. On the small table, next to the book of condolences, was a photograph of Father Mazzi smiling amongst the young people of the community, alongside the words: “I want ‘Ciao’ written on my gravestone because, in four letters, it says who I am, what I have done and what I will do. Lord, ciao!”, signed Don Antonio Mazzi. Franco Taverna, vice-president of the Exodus Foundation, welcomed those who had come to pay their respects. Among the first to enter the hall was Marco Granelli, Milan City Council’s Councillor for Security and Civil Protection.
