London, Aug. 1 (LaPresse) – UEFA will launch a motion of no confidence against FIFA President Gianni Infantino if he does not resign. According to The Telegraph, this is the hard-line position of the European confederation which, after celebrating FIFA’s U-turn on the ‘FIFA Forward Enterprise’ project as “a victory”, is pushing for Infantino’s departure. Infantino therefore faces an ultimatum from UEFA. It is believed that all 55 UEFA nations would vote in favour of a no-confidence motion against him. UEFA can initiate such a vote with the support of just 43 member nations. UEFA’s statement came after widespread opposition and an internal revolt within FIFA, which staff reportedly described as “killing the monster”. Concacaf, the governing body of football in North and Central America, has also called for change, stating that Infantino was responsible for a “serious act of mismanagement and leadership failure”.
