Rome, Aug. 2 (LaPresse) – “The explosion in Bologna 46 years ago of the deadly device that took the lives of 85 people and injured more than 200 left an indelible mark on the country’s civic conscience. The station clock, stopped at the minute of the attack, still tells the story today of the inhumanity of the fascist-inspired subversive plot that attempted to strike at the heart of our democracy.” Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi wrote this on social media. “The terrorists, however, had to face the united and firm response of society and the State, which never bowed. On this tragic anniversary, I offer my heartfelt thoughts to the families of the victims who, despite their pain, have never stopped seeking truth and justice for their loved ones. Honouring those who died in the Bologna massacre also means taking a clear stand against every form of hatred and violence: a warning that is renewed year after year and urges us to defend the values of freedom and justice at the foundation of our Republic,” he concluded.
