Rome, 2 August (LaPresse) – “We are working for peace; to achieve this, we must push Putin to sit down at the negotiating table and adopt a more conciliatory stance.” This was explained by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani in a speech at ‘La Versiliana’, whilst discussing the Russian ‘shadow fleet’ vessel intercepted by the Italian Navy west of the coast of Pantelleria. The Deputy Prime Minister then described as “a colossal lie” the remarks made by the Russian ambassador in Rome, who had spoken of an act of intimidation by Ukraine against Italy, referring to the attack that took place at an Italian restaurant in Moscow. “Why would the Ukrainians intimidate the Italians if we are standing alongside Kyiv?” Tajani declared.
