Madrid (Spain), 3 Aug. (LaPresse) – The Spanish Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, comparing the migration situation in Spain with that in Italy, stated that Italy is “inundated with migrants”. “Italy is overwhelmed by migrants in Lampedusa” and is the country “with the highest number of irregular arrivals in Europe; it is unable to resolve the situation, unlike Spain, which has managed to do so,” said Albares in an interview with the Spanish public broadcaster TVE, noting that almost all migrants who had crossed the border from Ceuta had been repatriated to Morocco within a few hours. “Italy would like to resolve the situation in Lampedusa,” continued the Spanish foreign minister, noting that so many migrants have arrived in Italy over the years that Spain has had to take in some of them.
