Lebanon, Hezbollah: ‘Negotiations with Israel have brought nothing but shame and humiliation’

(LaPresse) – “Today we believe that all direct negotiations (with Israel, ed.) have brought Lebanon nothing but shame, humiliation, disappointment and constant concessions.” This was stated by Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem in his speech during the commemorative ceremonies for Imam Hussein in the city of Baalbek. This was reported by the Lebanese broadcaster Al-Manar. “This approach will lead nowhere for Lebanon,” added Qassem, “the Lebanese authorities must focus on national sovereignty, on strengthening the Lebanese army, on the withdrawal of the enemy from our occupied territories, on reconstruction, on the investigation into the port explosion and on the return of depositors’ funds.”
