The Italian, world No. 22 and No. 19 seed, defeated Canadian Gabriel Diallo in his opening match, after his opponent retired due to a left leg injury while trailing 4-6, 3-2. Darderi’s next opponent will be China’s Shang Juncheng. Meanwhile, Flavio Cobolli, ATP No. 9, has been eliminated, beaten 7-6(5), 7-6(2) by Germany’s Yannick Hanfmann, ranked No. 57 in the world.
