Turin, 5 Aug. (LaPresse) – “I can see progress; the lads are working really hard and we’ve been training intensively over the last few days. At the moment, we’re not too concerned about the results of the matches we’re playing, but we want to do a good job and, above all, improve our fitness. I’d say that some players have had plenty of playing time and we’re pleased with the quality they’ve shown, even though they’re not in peak condition and their legs aren’t quite up to scratch yet.” This was stated by Inter manager Cristian Chivu, commenting on the 1–1 draw against Milan in the friendly match played in Perth. “We probably struggled a bit at the start of the match to occupy the spaces; we made a few more mistakes in our passing and when playing out from the back, and we were a bit hasty in our play, but our opponents were also skilful and put us under a bit of pressure. As the match went on, we improved, found more ways out of tight situations and I’d say we played rather well,” he added. “At the moment, our main concern remains the players’ well-being, their health and the development of their fitness, whilst adhering to the principles we’re trying to instil and building on what the team has shown it can do over recent years.”
