Rome, 7 Aug. (LaPresse) – “L’8 August will soon be proclaimed ‘European Day for Victims at Work’: a day to reaffirm the dignity of work, to renew our commitment to ensuring fair conditions for European and non-European workers who respect the rules and contribute to the well-being of our societies, to state that there is no room in Europe for those who feed the channels of illegal immigration to have cheap labour and revise rights downwards. Because, for us, the message is clear: those who exploit people, enslave them and fuel criminal trafficking are unworthy of the European social model.” This was stated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in a video message sent to the event in Charleroi promoted by the ECR entitled “The Europe of Work, Peoples, and Dignity,” organized to mark the 70th anniversary of the Marcinelle tragedy.
