My thoughts are with the families of the victims, the wounded and all those suffering as a result of the ongoing conflict. Faced with such suffering, I renew my heartfelt appeal for humanitarian law to be respected and for both sides to cease attacks targeting civilians.” So said Pope Leo XIV at the end of the Angelus in St Peter’s Square. “War only breeds more war and causes enormous suffering: it is time to halt the spiral of violence and make way for diplomacy and dialogue to pave the way for peace,” he concluded.
