Beijing (China), 9 Aug. (LaPresse/AP) – China is bracing for the arrival of Typhoon Dolphin, which has already brought heavy rain to northern Taiwan and is heading towards China’s east coast. In Shanghai, over 1,300 flights have been cancelled at the city’s two main airports, Hongqiao and Pudong, whilst the authorities have ordered evacuations in the most vulnerable areas. The typhoon, with maximum sustained winds of around 162 km/h, is expected to reach Zhejiang province and northern Fujian on Sunday. Meteorologists are forecasting rainfall of between 200 and 400 millimetres in some areas, with a high risk of flooding and landslides.
