Rome, 10 Aug. (LaPresse) – At the European Athletics Championships, two Italian athletes will feature in the 100-metre semi-finals. The green light has been given for Gloria Hooper, who clocked 11.24 seconds with a tailwind of +1.8 m/s (within the regulations), joining Zaynab Dosso (among the top 12 at these European Championships; the remaining 24 had to progress through the heats). Hooper performed at her best during the middle stages of the race, making up for a less-than-impressive start (reaction time of 0.180). She finished third in her heat with the eighth-fastest time overall, comfortably securing her place among the top twelve who qualified for the evening’s semi-finals. At 34, she equalled her personal best set in 2021, having already come close to it this season. However, the tailwind of +3.2 was above the permitted limit, propelling Hungary’s Boglarka Takacs to 10.93 seconds; Britain’s Imani Lansiquot also broke the 11-second barrier with a time of 10.99 seconds.
